While providing for the needs and rights of the people who survive gun violence is a self-evident, daily reality for organisations – governmental and nongovernmental -working at the local level, the silence on this issue in the UN process on small arms control therefore stands in sharp contrast. This policy brief seeks to highlight this issue as an important one in the consequences of the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons in all its aspects.
