In the paper, Mediating in a complex world, released in July 2019 by the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), Teresa Whitfield, Director of the Policy and Mediation Division at the United Nations (UN) Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, explores the practice of mediation from the perspective of the changing landscape of conflict. Drawing on examples from around the world – including Colombia, the Philippines, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Cyprus – she highlights new approaches to old challenges around making peace.
