Starting date: June 2024

The Project Officer contributes to the implementation of HD’s Ukraine project by supporting the Project Manager on operational, strategic, administrative, financial and monitoring levels.

Key responsibilities are:

  1. Research and Analysis:
    1. Conduct comprehensive research on conflict and peace-related developments.
    1. Prepare reports and analytical notes based on research findings.
  2. Project Management and Coordination:
    1. Coordinate tracks/groups, including participant selection and work plan design.
    1. Organize meetings, events, and field trips.
    1. Coordinate local and international consultants.
    1. Assist with donor reporting and other assigned tasks.
  3. External Engagement:
    1. Attend meetings with government and stakeholders.
    1. Provide interpretation support.
  4. Strategy and New Business Development:
    1. Contribute to designing new project tracks.
    1. Participate in team discussions on strategies and results.
    1. Provide guidance to colleagues.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • University degree in Politics, International Relations, Sociology, Governance, International Law or other related field;
  • strong research and analytical skills;
  • strong writing and editing skills;
  • considerable nationwide networks across government, civil society, academia and international organizations;
  • knowledge of and commitment to conflict resolution, mediation processes and humanitarian issues;
  • 3 years’ experience in the peace, security, reforms, humanitarian or related fields, with key achievements that demonstrate the candidate’s impact in these areas;
  • deep understanding of the political, economic and cultural situation in Ukraine and in the wider region;
  • fluency in English, Ukrainian and Russian;
  • strong organisational skills;
  • experience in M&E and donor reporting requirements would be an asset;
  • understanding of situation or experience of work related to the temporarily occupied or de- occupied territories would be an asset;
  • experience in social cohesion/transitional justice, diplomacy, international law, mediation, food security, aviation or ecology would be an asset.

The position will report to the Project Manager in Ukraine.
