Project Associate – North Africa at 100%

The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is looking for a Project Associate, North Africa at 100%

Location: based in Tunis

Starting date: as soon as possible

HD has been working on North Africa since 2011. HD works with all parties to the conflict to de-escalate tensions, reduce the risks of conflict and establish a conducive environment for peace negotiations. The Project Associate (PA) will contribute to North Africa projects by providing assistance to project manager, focusing on the peace process and conflict dynamics across the region.

The Project Associate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of HD projects and activities in North Africa through analysis and substantive support;
  • Contribute to HD’s understanding and analysis of the situation in North Africa (notably Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco) through updates of developments in the country and the region, respectively;
  • Support the establishment of new regional projects in North Africa, developing and maintaining contact with interlocutors as directed;
  • Assist in ensuring the project is reported on a timely and qualitative manner according to grant and donor timelines/requirements;
  • In coordination with other staff, draft narrative/review reports for all grants of the project, including monthly updates, interim and final reports to donors;
  •  Attend meetings when requested and assist in taking minutes, drafting correspondence, collecting and compiling meeting information.
  • Draft reports or notes of meetings as requested by the Project Officer.
  • Ensure the smooth running of HD events and meetings in North Africa through on-site support when necessary.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a relevant function;
  • Fluency in Arabic, French and English required;
  • High quality writing skills, strong research and information analysis skills;
  • Master’s degree in political science, international relations, or a related topic is desirable;    
  • Knowledge of and commitment to conflict resolution, as well as political and cultural knowledge of North Africa;

Personality: The successful candidate should be capable of multi-tasking and meet tight deadlines. S/he must be a flexible team player, proactive and have strong social, communication and organisational skills.
