Intern, Myanmar country office

Based in Yangon
Start date: February 2019
Duration: a minimum duration of 4 months

HD is currently looking for an intern for its Myanmar country office.

The intern will provide support to the country team with HD’s work on conflict mitigation in Myanmar. Her/his responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting reports and conflict analysis in coordination with the country team;
  • Assisting the country team with the organisation of project-related activities both in Yangon and in the field;
  • Monitoring English-language media and disseminating regular reports and situation analyses to the country team;
  • Contributing to regular reporting requirements to donors and other stakeholders;
  • Assisting in the representation of HD at events and meetings in Yangon and strengthening relationships with the government, civil society, and business actors.


The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, e.g. political science, conflict studies, international relations, public policy, international development;
  • Prior experience in conducting qualitative research;
  • Experience in working on conflict prevention or peacebuilding;
  • Experience in living and working in Myanmar and/or Southeast Asia would be considered an asset;
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills, including prior research or reporting experience;
  • Fluency in written and oral English; ability in local or Asian languages considered an asset;
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


The ideal candidate should have:

Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;

A strong sense of team spirit and self-motivation with effective interpersonal and communication skills, ideally with prior experience of working in a multicultural team.  

The candidate will receive a stipend during the internship.
