– Innovative ideas for leading peacemakers –
The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is pleased to announce the launch of the 3rd edition of the Oslo Forum Peacewriter Prize, an essay competition seeking innovative responses to today’s peacemaking challenges.
Mediating an end to armed conflict has become increasingly complex. To reach an agreement, peacemakers today have to navigate volatile contexts that require concerted efforts across multiple fronts. The Oslo Forum Peacewriter Prize offers an opportunity to address the challenges posed by this evolving landscape and seeks essays which explore creative strategies for mitigating conflict. Submissions should be practice-oriented and address a geographic or thematic issue relevant to peacemakers.
The winning entry will be published as part of the briefing material for the 2020 Oslo Forum, a pre-eminent retreat in the field of international peacemaking, which convenes the world’s top conflict mediators, high-level decision-makers and peace-process actors to reflect on challenges and opportunities in the field of mediation. Previous participants have included António Guterres, Federica Mogherini, Kofi Annan, Jimmy Carter, Juan Manuel Santos, Fatou Bensouda, Thabo Mbeki and many others.
Criteria for entry
Submissions should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight (Central European Time) on 31 January 2020.
HD retains copyright for the winning entry of the Peacewriter Prize but can provide the author(s) with a written authorisation to release the paper elsewhere upon request. HD may contact the author(s) to request changes to a submission before awarding the Prize and also reserves the right not to award it. The competition is not open to current HD staff or consultants.
