Vive la Difference? Humanitarian and Political Approaches to Engaging Armed Groups

Vive la Difference? Humanitarian and Political Approaches to Engaging Armed Groups , by David Petrasek

The humanitarian approach is often defined as trying to prevent and mitigate the consequences of conflict, the political approach as trying to end conflict. In practice, however, it is often difficult to draw such a clear cut distinction. Petrasek illuminates the practical risks of combining the two and how to maximise the benefits drawn from both approaches without jeopardising the success of either one.
