The Communist Party of the Philippines (in Filipino: Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas) is the leading communist party in the Philippines. The party was formed in a remote barangay in Alaminos, Pangasinan on December 26, 1968, following a split from the Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas. The party was founded by Jose Maria Sison, who confirmed its birth at Barangay Dulacac in the tri-boundary of Alaminos, Bani and Mabini in the province of Pangasinan.
