
The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (the HD Centre) is an independent and impartial organisation, based in Geneva, Switzerland, dedicated to improving the global response to conflict.
It attempts to achieve this by undertaking and promoting action to prevent and resolve armed conflicts through tailor-made support to peace processes, and by contributing to the improvement of the practice of mediation and the strengthening of capacity within the wider community of practitioners.

The HD Centre is willing to offers students an opportunity to acquire direct exposure and allow them to contribute to the organisation’s work through unpaid internships.
When internship positions become available, the HD centre will give preference to students undertaking degrees in political science, international relations, peace and conflict, human rights, humanitarian law or equivalent. Eligible candidates must also be fluent in English.
Knowledge in pre- and post-conflict situations, conflict resolution and peacemaking, with experience in researching, analysing and writing on political contexts will be strongly favoured.

The HD Centre is currently looking for an Inclusion Adviser to join its Policy and Mediation Support team in Geneva.
Reporting to the Director of Policy and Mediation Support, the responsibilities of the Inclusion Adviser will be as follows:
Qualifications: The successful candidate should have an advanced university degree, including studies in international relations, gender and women’s rights and at least ten years of work experience in an international environment. S/he must have demonstrable expertise in peace process design and in the area of women’s rights and gender as well as field experience in peace-building, political affairs or mediation. Required knowledge includes: international peace and security issues, the United Nations (UN) and conflict mediation, women’s rights, understanding of peace processes and inclusion issues.
Skills: The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, possess experience of public speaking and representation, demonstrate a record of initiative and creativity as well as confidence in dealing with senior practitioners. S/he should be flexible and able to work under time constraints and to manage multiple projects at the same time. Knowledge of other languages is desirable.
